AFL-CIO Fights for Kansas City Jobs

As reported in the Kansas City Business Journal, the AFL-CIO is protesting a proposal to send 120 Kansas City-area jobs to a non-union company. Union members held a demonstration earlier today to show how upset they are regarding the Boilermakers National Funds and how they might be subcontracting jobs out to a company that is not a part of a union.

What does this mean? Well, as time goes on many Americans are seeing unions are less and less desirable. There is an image out there of union workers just sitting around all day and collecting a check. This image has come directly from the media in the form of news stores, television shows, and even movies.

I applaud the AFL-CIO for continuing to fight when it seems like everyone is against them. We need union workers and other groups to help fight for our rights - without them, who knows where we might end up.
